A Letter from Dr. Neil Martin to His Patients

Dear Patients,

Dr Neil Martin Ophthalmologist - LASIK Surgeon and Cataract Surgeon Chevy Chase MD

It has been an honor and privilege being your ophthalmologist, and with mixed emotions I am announcing my retirement as of December 31, 2025.

I have been fortunate to have enjoyed a calling that has enabled me to help people for the almost forty-five years since I joined Drs. Melvin Alper, David Berler and Arthur Schwartz in the practice that became Washington Eye Physicians and Surgeons.

My good fortune has allowed me to practice with my current wonderful and compassionate colleagues, Drs. Howard Weiss, Marwa Adi, Ken Schwartz and Lauren Taney.  Washington Eye has continued to grow and add highly trained and skilled ophthalmologists and I know that Drs. Dean Flanders, Lindsey Dawson and Lisa Tom with provide excellent care for my patients.

I would not have been able to provide care at the level I aspired to, if it were not for our compassionate staff. I thank my current technicians, and administrative staff, and many others.

I will miss my patients. If years were without limit, I would continue to practice ophthalmology. However, it is time to enjoy my remaining time with my wife, children and grandchildren and to pursue my music and art and travel and many other interests. I wish you all continued good health and happiness.

With warmest regards,

Neil F. Martin, M.D.
