Dr Howard Weiss - Ophthalmologist - DC Glaucoma Specialist - Chevy Chase Cataract Surgeon

Howard Weiss, M.D.

Dr. Weiss is a highly skilled cataract and glaucoma surgeon. His colleagues consult him regularly for his expertise in surgery and laser treatment; more than 50% of his patients are referred to him by other physicians. Among his patients are other doctors, including other ophthalmologists who perform cataract surgery. His expertise with all aspects of cataract surgery, including astigmatic and multifocal lens implants, has provided improved vision and reduced dependence on eyeglasses for many of his cataract patients. He is skilled in both “simply sonar” as well as bladeless “laser-assisted sonar” cataract surgery. He is a seven-time Washingtonian Magazine Top Doc.

Dr. Weiss’ practice encompasses all of general ophthalmology and has been complemented by teaching at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Georgetown University, and the Washington Hospital Center and by his involvement with research studies sponsored by the National Eye Institute of the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Weiss was the President and Managing Partner at Washington Eye Physicians & Surgeons from 2008-2019, and he was the Medical Director at The Eye Surgery Center in Silver Spring, Maryland from 2007-2014. He has 20 publications in peer-reviewed literature and has given 80 lectures at academic institutions.
