Welcome Dr. Lauren S. Taney to the Washington Eye Family


With great pleasure we welcome Dr. Lauren S. Taney, a retina specialist, to Washington Eye Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Taney specializes in the diagnosis and management of medical retinal conditions such as age related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusions and retinal tears.

Dr. Taney received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University and her medical degree from the University of Florida. She completed her residency training in ophthalmology at Georgetown University Hospital/Washington Hospital Center and went on to complete a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Disease at the highly regarded New England Eye Center at Tufts Medical Center. Her research interests include age-related macular degeneration, cystoid macular edema, vitreomacular traction, and retinal imaging techniques.

She has presented at multiple international and national meetings, including the American Society of Retina Specialists and the Retina Society. She has published several peer-reviewed articles, textbook chapters and has served as a sub-investigator on multiple clinical trials. Dr. Taney’s priority is to deliver the highest quality of individualized care for a variety of retinal diseases by utilizing cutting-edge imaging modalities, diagnostic techniques and various in-office treatments.

Washington Eye Physicians & Surgeons retina service is equipped with the latest retinal technology including optical coherence tomography (OCT), fluorescein angiography, indocyanine green (ICG) angiography, fundus autofluorescence, and ocular ultrasonography (B-scan).
